There was a moment in my life when I thought I would have never seen BJ’s end. This comic was a beast, in multiple senses, both positive and negative. I loved it, I hated it. It was complicated sometimes, and I won’t deny that many of you made things even more complicated… but let’s move on, because this is not a topic I’m willing to bring up again, ever.
I’m sure that BJ’s last chapter, and especially its last part, didn’t satisfied you. I’m also sure that it doens’t actually exist an ending which could satisfy every single one of you. But since this is a fancomic, and we’re both used to being despised anyway, I admit that what you actually think of this final doesn’t concern us too much. Anyway, it’s done, and I shall tell you (for the umpteenth time) that our work for the Zootopia fandom has come to an end. From now on, what we make will be just original contents – except for Jack Savage’s presence (which I consider a character of mine). It is our intention to work on the Black Jack sequel along with whatever story we imagine and decide to realize. Nobody is forced to stick with us, so be quiet and don’t make a fuss, please. You don’t like us, you avoid us. Simple and easy.
Message from@rem289: “It’s over. What could I say … two years have passed since the beginning of this comic. they were two very … intense years. Partly, I had many satisfactions, I feel I have grown, both on a technical and human level and I’m happy about it. It’s the first comic I took seriously, the longest I’ve ever done and the first one I’ve ever finished. and it’s not so bad, being a fan comic. And it’s also the last work I’ve done on Nick, Judy and Zootopia in general. There will be no other works dedicated to them made by me. This doesn’t mean that I will stop drawing, but after two years of honored service the time has come for me to devote myself to other projects, especially original ones. So if you are interested in me and what I do, you will always be welcome and it will be a pleasure to have you with me.”
🇮🇹 E adesso, lasciate che mi rivolga esclusivamente ai nostri lettori ITALIANI! Non molti sanno che io e Rem siamo italiane, soprattutto perché non abbiamo mai fatto grossi sforzi per farlo sapere al mondo. Purtroppo, e mi costa dirlo, viviamo ormai in una realtà in cui la globalizzazione è tutto, l'inglese è “l'unica lingua” al punto che quasi non vale più la pena di ricordare da dove veniamo. Però, in quest'ultimo periodo, ho cominciato a ricredermi; mi sono accorta di come è bello essere apprezzati da chi parla la tua stessa lingua. Ti fa sentire a casa, in un certo senso. Perciò grazie anche a voi, dal profondo del cuore, per tutto il supporto che ci avete dato in questi due anni e per tutto quello che eventualmente deciderete di darci in futuro. Dal canto mio posso dirvi che d'ora in poi, qualunque lavoro io e Rem faremo sarà sia in INGLESE che in ITALIANO. È una promessa che vi faccio e che mi impegno a mantenere, io personalmente (dato che la lingua è a carico mio); e mi piacerebbe molto se gli italiani che stanno leggendo questo post lasciassero un commento qua sotto, per farci sapere che ci sono e per farci sentire ancora una volta il loro “calore patriottico”, che oggi più che mai ci farebbe un gran bene, visto che si tratta del giorno in cui Black Jack, fumetto con i suoi pro ed i suoi contro, giunge infine alla sua conclusione. 🇮🇹

At last, here we are: final episode of BJ. Part 1 of… I don’t know, I still haven’t decided how to split the pages.
In the last 4-6 months (maybe more), this comic has been criticized by a lot of people. That’s why, at one point, we almost decided to drop this comic altogether. Almost. But in the end, we’re still here. And I’m glad we are, nonetheless.
So, we pick up where we left off in Episode 7. Jack is in Meadowlands, having his personal exploration of the place before the actual mission takes place. But just then, he recalls something…

It was a perfect ‘princess carry’. Straight out of a romantic movie. I watched him as he gallantly held the princess of Venezuela in his tiny – yet strong – arms, his slender figure contrasting with the size of the mammals who were surrounding the cave where she had been held captive in the last 48 hours.
It was perfect… and absolutely disgusting.
“The princess is safe.” One of Diana’s personal guards, an elephant, waved his trunk to them. “This way, Mr. Savage.”
Jack nodded and got the princess down – ‘It was about time, Jesus Christ’ – with a soft smile. “Are you okay, Princess Diana?” he asked.
“I’m fine, thank you.” The princess took one of his paws and held it for unknown reasons. “You were so brave…” she said. “So fearless! Intrepid! Undaunted…”
“Savage” I began, approaching them, “Did you secure the area?”
“Yes” he confirmed. “Nobody is going to come outside the cave. Not alive, at least.”
I clicked my tongue with a grin. “Tsk. You really are Savage, aren’t you?”
“Hey, stop calling him savage!” she grunted. “It’s such a harsh, graceless word, Ms. Hiker.”
“It’s Walker, and I wasn’t naming an adjective. I was just addressing my… associate.”
“… Associate.” Jack looked at me with canny eyes. “I keep downgrading, it seems.”
I rolled my eyes. “Aren’t we associates?”
“And what will we be tomorrow? Acquaintances?”
“Don’t fight!” the princess suddenly bawled, coming between us. “I just got rescued, we need to celebrate!”
“Actually, we need to come back to the headquarter.” I put a pawn on Jack’s shoulder – who glared at me, unhappy – and gave the skunk a wry smile. “I hope you won’t be kidnapped again, princess Diana.”
“Walker, you’re atomizing my shoulder.”
“Bear with it.”
“No, really” he grumbled, “it hurts.”
“Aw, fine then.” I let his delicate shoulder go with a sarcastic smirk. “… Poor thing.”
“Hey.”
“But…” Diana mumbled, “you should relax a bit, before returning to the headquarter. How about I give a party, tonight?” She suggested. “Would you like to come? I mean, you worked so hard… you deserve a little entertainment.”
“You’re too generous, princess” Jack replied, “but…”
“Oh, please!” She clung to his arm and begged: “Stay, Mr. Savage!”
“Hum…” Jack scratched his cheek, a bit flushed. Then, he turned to me and asked: “Walker, what do you think?”
‘… I think Princess Diana needs to mind her damn princely business.’ “We have no time for parties, Savage.”
The lack of context disturbed Jack, so he turned to the cat with a puzzled expression all over his face. “What?” he asked, but his younger apprentice didn’t give him a proper answer; the cat just stared at something on the other side of the office, with dreamy eyes and his long tail wagging around, restless.
It was almost touching, Jack thought for a moment.
Almost.
“Zac…” the hare sighed, “did you already fill the report I gave you this morning?”
“I love it.”
“…” Jack frowned at the empty file, sadly lying on Zac’s desk. “So much you decided to keep it blank?”
“The wig” the cat murmured. “Stella’s wig, I love it.”
‘Oh. Right, the wig.’ “Zac, how about—”
“She looks so gorgeous with that ponytail, doesn’t she?”
Jack, for sake of argument, left his desk with a sigh and came to see the aforementioned gorgeous creature. He caught a glimpse of a certain ferret whose eyes could kill an adult mammal with just one glance. She was… actually… quite far from being the embodiment of gorgeousness, to be honest. “Well… if you ask my opinion—”
“Ah!” Zac got excited all the sudden. “She looked this way!” The cat turned to Jack and claimed: “She looked at me!”
“How nice.” Jack forced a smile. “But the report—”
“Stella!” Zac yelled at her. “Good morning!”
Jack heard the crack of his patience being mercilessly crushed. “Zac…”
Stella, at the end of the hallway, gave Zac a look so angry that even Jack got goosebumps. ‘… at least her bloodlust is gorgeous, in a sense.’
Eventually, Stella walked away from their field of vision; then, Zac became very quiet, as if his breath of life had suddenly abandoned him.
Jack asked, worried: “Zac, can you hear me?”
The cat whimpered softly. “… boss, I have a confession.” Suspense descended upon them, or maybe it was just moisture in the air. “I think… I’m in love.”
‘I think you’re just lazy.’ Jack decided to keep that last thought for himself – a courtesy for his cute, idle mostly of the time assistant. “Zac…” Jack began, but then he realized he didn’t have a spare thought prepared and so he became silent, with the unpleasant feeling that the report would have never been filled that day.
And perhaps not even the next one.
“What, hum…” The hare scratched the back of his head, looking for something to say. “What do you… love about Stella?”
‘Oh, now that’s a great question.’ Cynthia’s face suddenly appeared in his mind. ‘Why can’t you just keep your little mouth shut, Savage?’, she inquired, not so softly. ‘What are you, a cretin?’
‘I probably am’ he admitted, just because it was happening all inside his creative mind. Cynthia nodded. ‘Of course’ she agreed, then vanished in a puff of smoke.
“She’s small” Zac answered, taking Jack away from his savage fantasies, “and stubborn, and cute. She always looks like the entire world annoys her, but I bet that she’s actually a cutie pie. I…” The cat giggled a bit, seeming a little embarrassed. “I kinda want to protect her; you know, the “prince and princess” sort of thing. And, oh! I want to know more about her, and I want her to smile. I’m sure her smile is beautiful.”
“What is your conviction based on?” ‘And what’s a “cutie pie”, anyway?’
“No basis, boss” he admitted. “I just know that.”
Jack felt a headache approaching him at incredible high speed. “I see. That’s very… nice, I think.”
Zac laughed. “You have a big ‘I don’t understand’ written all over you face, boss.”
“Is that so?” Jack touched both his cheeks, confused. Then, realizing they had already lost too much time, he cleared his throat and said: “Zac, I hate to repeat myself, but there is a report to fill. Now.”
The cat gulped. “Oh… you’re right. The report. The report you gave me today so that I could fill it. That report.”
“Yes, that report.” Jack pointed at the sheet in question. “Will you take care of it, Zac?”
He sadly nodded. “I will, boss.”
“In the near future, I hope?”
“… How near, exactly?”
“You have thirty minutes.”
“What? But—”
“Twenty-nine.”
“Boss!”
“… And now twenty-eight. For any further objection, I’ll subtract a minute, so be quiet and fill the report.”
Zac, whose mouth was opened, raised both arms in the air in shock.
Jack smiled and offered him a bow. “You’re welcome.”

This is absolutely my favorite drawing of Cynthia, maybe my favorite drawing of all times. She’s absolutely stunning here; everything from colors to lines, facial expression and pose is perfect. Just perfect. I love this character so much and can’t really wait to make her move in the sequel together with Jack. They make such a good couple… 💗
(On a side note, artworks repost is done, at last. Now you can expect just inedit artworks to be published here… more or less. 😉)
