“So… even on a day like this, our dearest Jack intends to be coy, huh?”
When Cynthia’s voice reached him from over his shoulders, so close that he could feel the warmness just behind his ears, it took Jack a considerable effort not to make a vertical leap which would’ve sent him outside the Earth’s atmosphere, hurtling toward worlds he could hardly imagine. And one more massive effort helped him to control his tone, as words composed by some sort of emergency generator of his mind flooded out like spurts of fresh water: “I didn’t mean to escape the celebration; I was just, you know… preparing psychologically. I’m not used to this anymore.”
Behind him, he heard her giggle. “What is this that you’re not used to, parties?”
‘To any of this,’ the hare was about to jest. He felt Cynthia’s arms sliding in front of him, knotting tight around his waist, and those little bits of sanity and self-possession he had managed to gather in the loneliness of the dimly lit hallway, all his efforts to cool down and behave normally in front of her… everything melted away in a heartbeat, like snow bathing in the sunlight. ‘To you, your warmth, your scent, your affection, and…’ Jack swallowed hard; even thinking about it was enough to cause him to shake like a leaf. ‘… And this alluring body of yours that torments me day and night.’ “Let’s say… it’s one of many things.”
“Oh, I see.” The arctic vixen leaned her chin on his shoulder and rubbed her cheek against his. “You do realize it’s not nice of the birthday boy to flee awayfrom his guests, right, Jack? Everyone’s waiting for you, let’s get back… ah,” she stopped, giving him a scrupulous sniff, “Such a good smell that you have today, I hadn’t noticed. It’s not your usual cologne, is it?”
A comic ends, but another will begin soon. In the meanwhile… please enjoy this last episode and think about what it has been told and showed in these ten pages.

Ed ecco l'episodio 0.1 di J servito anche in italiano! Rem mi ha avvisato del fatto che potrebbero mancare delle sillabe a qualche dialogo… ho ricontrollato tutte le tavole personalmente e non ho trovato alcuna mancanza, se qualcuno le notasse lo scriva qua sotto che sistemo. 😅
Non ho molto da dire su questo episodio, se non che sono contenta di aver potuto far interagire Cynthia, Stella e Zac tutti insieme senza preoccuparmi che qualche fan mi svangasse i… ci siamo capiti, e che non vedo l'ora di concludere J con la prossima parte per attaccare con il sequel vero e proprio. Ma la prossima cosa su cui lavoreremo sarà Operation Dinnertime, quindi ci sarà da aspettare.

The lack of context disturbed Jack, so he turned to the cat with a puzzled expression all over his face. “What?” he asked, but his younger apprentice didn’t give him a proper answer; the cat just stared at something on the other side of the office, with dreamy eyes and his long tail wagging around, restless.
It was almost touching, Jack thought for a moment.
Almost.
“Zac…” the hare sighed, “did you already fill the report I gave you this morning?”
“I love it.”
“…” Jack frowned at the empty file, sadly lying on Zac’s desk. “So much you decided to keep it blank?”
“The wig” the cat murmured. “Stella’s wig, I love it.”
‘Oh. Right, the wig.’ “Zac, how about—”
“She looks so gorgeous with that ponytail, doesn’t she?”
Jack, for sake of argument, left his desk with a sigh and came to see the aforementioned gorgeous creature. He caught a glimpse of a certain ferret whose eyes could kill an adult mammal with just one glance. She was… actually… quite far from being the embodiment of gorgeousness, to be honest. “Well… if you ask my opinion—”
“Ah!” Zac got excited all the sudden. “She looked this way!” The cat turned to Jack and claimed: “She looked at me!”
“How nice.” Jack forced a smile. “But the report—”
“Stella!” Zac yelled at her. “Good morning!”
Jack heard the crack of his patience being mercilessly crushed. “Zac…”
Stella, at the end of the hallway, gave Zac a look so angry that even Jack got goosebumps. ‘… at least her bloodlust is gorgeous, in a sense.’
Eventually, Stella walked away from their field of vision; then, Zac became very quiet, as if his breath of life had suddenly abandoned him.
Jack asked, worried: “Zac, can you hear me?”
The cat whimpered softly. “… boss, I have a confession.” Suspense descended upon them, or maybe it was just moisture in the air. “I think… I’m in love.”
‘I think you’re just lazy.’ Jack decided to keep that last thought for himself – a courtesy for his cute, idle mostly of the time assistant. “Zac…” Jack began, but then he realized he didn’t have a spare thought prepared and so he became silent, with the unpleasant feeling that the report would have never been filled that day.
And perhaps not even the next one.
“What, hum…” The hare scratched the back of his head, looking for something to say. “What do you… love about Stella?”
‘Oh, now that’s a great question.’ Cynthia’s face suddenly appeared in his mind. ‘Why can’t you just keep your little mouth shut, Savage?’, she inquired, not so softly. ‘What are you, a cretin?’
‘I probably am’ he admitted, just because it was happening all inside his creative mind. Cynthia nodded. ‘Of course’ she agreed, then vanished in a puff of smoke.
“She’s small” Zac answered, taking Jack away from his savage fantasies, “and stubborn, and cute. She always looks like the entire world annoys her, but I bet that she’s actually a cutie pie. I…” The cat giggled a bit, seeming a little embarrassed. “I kinda want to protect her; you know, the “prince and princess” sort of thing. And, oh! I want to know more about her, and I want her to smile. I’m sure her smile is beautiful.”
“What is your conviction based on?” ‘And what’s a “cutie pie”, anyway?’
“No basis, boss” he admitted. “I just know that.”
Jack felt a headache approaching him at incredible high speed. “I see. That’s very… nice, I think.”
Zac laughed. “You have a big ‘I don’t understand’ written all over you face, boss.”
“Is that so?” Jack touched both his cheeks, confused. Then, realizing they had already lost too much time, he cleared his throat and said: “Zac, I hate to repeat myself, but there is a report to fill. Now.”
The cat gulped. “Oh… you’re right. The report. The report you gave me today so that I could fill it. That report.”
“Yes, that report.” Jack pointed at the sheet in question. “Will you take care of it, Zac?”
He sadly nodded. “I will, boss.”
“In the near future, I hope?”
“… How near, exactly?”
“You have thirty minutes.”
“What? But—”
“Twenty-nine.”
“Boss!”
“… And now twenty-eight. For any further objection, I’ll subtract a minute, so be quiet and fill the report.”
Zac, whose mouth was opened, raised both arms in the air in shock.
Jack smiled and offered him a bow. “You’re welcome.”

So, this is the first drawing that inaugurates AoiRemArt’s askbox! Thank you @taren19, for the brilliant question! I had fun thinking of the answer, and Rem had fun drawing it! ☆
Now you can submit your own question to receive a drawn answer for it! Just be sure to read carefullythis postfirst, and you should be okay.
One of the first works featuring Zac I gently asked Rem to make. As you can see, the concept of Cynthia Walker was a little different from what it actually turned out to be, here. Her neck and tail aren’t as “thick” and fluffy as they should be; she resembles Skye a lot in this drawing – what they have in common being arctic vixens with the anatomy of a red fox 😂 – and that was entirely my mistake. Still not sure why I told Rem to draw her like that. 🤔 On the other hand, Zac and Stella look perfectly!

I’m ashamed, for it doesn’t exist an artwork of Zac Goldenwheat alone. I don’t now how it is possible. Is it my fault, or it’s Rem’s fault? 🤔 Whose fault is it? Anyway, we have no excuses… but we’ll eventually make up for it. So, for now, just enjoy this cute cat along with his loved boss! 💕
